3-D MODELING

Lindgren & Sharples, P.C. is pleased to announce that we have dedicated resources and worked diligently towards adopting Autodesk® Revit® MEP into our CAD software repertoire.  The addition of Revit® 3-D modeling capabilities at Lindgren & Sharples has offered us the opportunity to collaborate and coordinate effectively and efficiently with our clients and among the various disciplines on our recent projects.  With escalating construction costs and increasingly complex buildings, we feel it is important to be current with the latest CAD technology to better serve our clients and building owners.

US Fish & Wildlife Service Regional Office, Hadley, Massachusetts

Lindgren & Sharples designed the HVAC upgrades and was the LEED Administrator for the renovation of the US Fish & Wildlife Service’s 3-story, 80,000 square foot regional headquarters building in Hadley, Massachusetts. The project received a LEED Gold Existing Buildings Operations & Maintenance certification.  The building site incorporates open space, native plantings, and wildlife habitat, all of which contributed to the LEED certification. As part of the renovations photovoltaic panels were installed on the roof to produce renewable energy, and air-to-air energy recovery was added to reduce energy consumption and improve comfort. Energy usage was tracked for one year and benchmarked against DOE Energy Star ratings utilizing the Portfolio Manager interactive web site. In addition a suite of sustainable building operations policies were instituted and implemented as part of the LEED certification process.

Fresh off a well deserved Holiday break, the staff at Lindgren & Sharples are “recharged” for a new year that looks to be promising.  Construction continues on a number of projects, including the new Elms College Science Center, which will replace the antiquated science labs with new state-of-the-art chemistry and biology labs.  The building will also be home to the nursing department, with a new skills lab and two simulation labs.

New projects have also begun to break at the start of 2013, including dormitory renovations at Berkshire Towers at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, new Academic Building at Nichols College a new dormitory at Assumption College to name a few.

Lindgren & Sharples recently completed the second phase of renovations at Hoosac Hall on the campus of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.  Hoosac Hall is a 65,000 square foot seven-story dormitory with a 254 beds.  Phase I consisted of toilet core renovations on all seven floors.  The renovations included the installation of an air-to-air energy recovery ventilation unit which provides exhaust and make-up air ventilation for the toilet core.  Phase II renovations consisted of converting the abandoned ground floor to a student lounge, multi-purpose room and kitchenette while adding a new ADA accessible main entrance on the ground level.  The common area on the first floor were then converted to dorm rooms.  By utilizing the unused ground floor space for a new student lounge, the design team was able to add 26 beds to the facility while adding no additional square footage.  Project included the replacement of the central heating equipment and domestic water heating systems.
