The construction of new 6,600 sq.ft. building and the renovation of existing 3,000 sq. ft. space included:
Participated in the sustainable design and assisted with the LEED™ Gold Certification of the building. All new mechanical and electrical systems were designed and commissioned by Lindgren & Sharples, P.C. and incorporates high performance/sustainable technologies. The building’s lighting systems are controlled by a low voltage, auto-dimming daylight control system and utilize T-5 technology. The building’s electric power system is augmented by a 29kw photovoltaic system and is eligible for a Massachusetts Renewable Energy Grant. The HVAC system incorporates low temperature water, radiant technology, and variable speed pumping, as well as, air-to-air heat recovery. All new mechanical and electrical systems are controlled by a digital energy management system which incorporates a real time interactive energy kiosk for use by students and faculty. This project also included a chiller replacement for the Art Village that received a $25,000 energy rebate by the utility company.
